March where I live finds us in and out of snowstorms. It is not uncommon for our area to have snow into May. The flowers still find us, though; daffodils and tulips follow snowdrops, crocuses, and hyacinth. Forsythia is one of the first flowering bushes. Its bright yellow flowers feel very springy.
The Journal staff is having springy thoughts, too. We've been discussing how we can improve Wild At Heart and make it better, more accessible, and easy to find on the Internet. We purchased domain names this past winter. We are now in the process of redirecting these domain names to our current site. Soon you will be able to type in pixiebobjournal.org and find us. It might actually be up and running when you read this column.
We are also exploring archiving. Our first year anniversary is rapidly approaching and we'd like to archive the past year for easy access. We have been getting some very positive feedback from some of our readers, especially the pet people. Many folks really enjoy seeing photos of everyone's Pixie-Bobs, pet, show, and breeder quality. We're looking at ways to archive and keep the photos, yet not take up too much space on our domain account.
We are also aware that our site loads slowly for people on dial-up. We apologize for any difficulties. For now, the way we have the site set up is what we can do. We hope that at some future time we can set up differently.
The Journal is a work of love on behalf of the Pixie-Bob breed. Your co-creators and staff truly love the Pixie-Bob and all cats. We are hoping to someday grow to be a lovely resource for cat lovers of any or no specific breed. We feel that articles on nutrition, showing, breeding, health issues, genetics, and other areas of responsible feline husbandry could be of benefit to cat owners/lovers of any/no specific breed. We also feel that pet owners contribute very valuable articles that shed light on living with a feline friend.
Our other endeavor that we hope to improve on is our Cafe Press store. The store helps to fund this Journal. Currently we pay for our domain names, our web-hosting, and any software or computer programs needed to do different functions of our Journal. Our first ever Journal Calendar has brought favorable reviews. We hope to expand our offerings. The Pixies-of-the-Month will be next year's pin-up boys and girls. We choose our Pixies through a random selection. If you'd like to see your Pixie-Bob as a next year's centerfold (so to speak), send us your photos and cross your fingers when the random program gets rolling.
We, the staff, hope that you all get inspired with the season and write us some articles. There is so much to share about living and caring responsible for our feline friends. I know that Pixie-Bob lovers are an enthusiastic bunch. We'd love to harness some of your creative energies to share with the world just how special it is to share your lives with your cats. We have high hopes for 2007. We learn as we go and this year is bound to be better than last.
