Beginning Again
On April 21st. we suffered a devastating house fire. The house and our belongings were all destroyed. Our human family is
safe.

Our 14 year old was home alone in the afternoon when the fire started downstairs in the Laundry Room. She was trying to
take a nap and one of our Pixie Bobs, Conifur, kept jumping on her and waking her up. Our daughter finally gave up on the
nap, and got up to get a snack when she noticed a very heavy smoke and flames coming from downstairs. She called 911,
went outside, and waited for the fire trucks to arrive.

The fire chief told us that the Pixie Bob saved her life - 5 minutes longer in the house and our daughter would not have
gotten out in time and would have died. Sadly, Conifur was pregnant and died in the fire. Conifur is being honoured by the
Red Cross as a Hero Animal Rescue Member.

Heart wrenchingly, we lost 8 of our 13 Pixie Bob members. We were told the cats died a painless death. They would have
felt drowsy, gone to sleep, and died in their sleep. We can never replace the cats lost in the fire, many wonderful, gorgeous,
Pixie Bob breeders are helping us to continue raising these wonderful cats, by helping us find or giving us Pixie-bobs from
their own breeding programs and providing help for shipping. Heartfelt thanks to Maryan, Stacy, Deana, and Jessica.

I know our Pixie Bobs are waiting for us across the rainbow bridge, and they are happy. We still love this breed so much
that we are going to continue raising the BEST Pixie Bob kittens out there.

The Fairbanks community has been very generous and donated many items for our home. We are still realizing the loss of
small items that you don't think about until you need it- like fingernail clippers or egg whisks. Walmart is on my frequent
errand list.

We will never replace our Pixies or things like photo albums, scrap books, baby blankets, etc. The complete and total
feelings of loss and grief are beginning to fade. I believe maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Raja's Moon, our only breeding female that survived the fire was pregnant at the time of the fire. She gave birth on May
28th. 2006 to one big healthy gorgeous long-hair male with a bobcat length tail. We have named him Phoenix - because he
was born from fire.
