Do all of you know what an Obligate Carnivore is? They are animals that require raw meat to
have long healthy lives. Cats of any kind require some raw meat in their diet. I feel that not only
a good high quality dry food with no corn, wheat or soy is important but we MUST also give our
cats raw meat.

I just placed a neutered male kitten that is only 6 1/2 months old with a friend, his name is Zen
and at this age most Breeders would tell you that he should weigh about 7-8 lbs. Zen has been on
raw meat since he was about 4 weeks old. Now at 6 1/2 months his weight is 10 1/2 lbs. He has
extreamly low body fat, great boning and highly developed muscles. This is the body type that
we should be striving for in our Breed.

I feed raw meat twice a day, morning and night. On the average my cats get approximately 4-6
ounces a day of raw meat. My males seem to gravitate to the ground rabbit with bone and most
of my females who need to have a little more fat in their diets are fed ground beef with heart,
kidney and liver.

I start my kittens at 4 weeks on the beef with heart, kidney and liver. Why? The answer is that
beef builds strong bones. Beef is very rich but it gets all those digestive juices and amino acids
going in their bodies and they grow more bone and seem to be much healthier in the long run. By
the time they are about 7-8 weeks I add ground chicken necks to their diets about twice a week.

I try to give a variety of meats so when they go to their new homes they will be more open to
trying new things. I have placed kittens with people who are avid hunters; they have elk and deer
so that these meats are the raw diet that they get. The avid hunters and the customer who
continue with the more traditional raw diet rave about how big their kitties get.

Building good diet habits from the time they are born is what we need to do so our cats are very
healthy. When people ask why do I have to feed raw, I explain to them that they can spend their
money on the raw diet or they can spend it at the Vet on vet bills. I have a large Cattery by some
standards; I feed about 20 cats a day. With this number I go through about 8 lbs of meat a day.
Yes, it can be expensive, but vet expenses are much worse.

One last thing to consider, thing about your cats and what is best for them not you. Their
digestive systems know how to digest raw meat but their systems have no idea what to do with
grains.
